Machining cycletime estimating is the most
important and most time consuming aspect of the cost estimating process.
Almost all of the "big name" estimating software, still relegate this
important task to a simple input field ... a guesstimate field.
KipwareCYC® brings real database files that contain
YOUR shops
ACTUAL material cutting conditions and machinery specs into
easy, one-click access and that makes for accurate and easy-to-calculate
machining cycletime estimates. KipwareCYC® includes :
- Machine
Database file that contains specs for your individual shop
machinery - manual or CNC - with an unlimited capacity. This insures
that cycletime estimating reflects the times your actual shop machinery
will deliver.
- Material
Database file that contains cutting condition information for
various machining operations - unlimited capacity. This insures that
cycletime estimating reflects the actual cutting conditions on your shop
floor ... not some "book knowledge" parameters.
- Cut Length
Calculator program included which uses conversational input
to automatically calculate length-of-cut for your machining operations.
The distance travelled by a cutter during complex operations like
pocketting and roughing is automatically calculated in seconds.
- Cycletime
Estimating with KipwareCYC is a simply a process of :
- Click the machine in your shop to use.
- Click the material to machine.
- Click the specific type of operation
from the list.
- Input some basic operation data.
- Click the CALCULATE button.
KipwareCYC® automatically searches
the database files and calculates the cutting parameters ( RPM, feedrate,
etc. ) based on the material and machine selected, then uses that data to
calculate the machining time for that operation. The user simple steps
through the part ... operation by operation ... with KipwareCYC®
performing all the calculations automatically. KipwareCYC® is user
configurable for either INCH or METRIC inputs in all areas.

- Print ROUTE SHEETS from your
CycleTime estimates. Printouts can be to your printer or to a text file
for editing with your favorite word processor like WORD, WORDPERFECT or
any other or output in spreadsheet format for importing into EXCEL or
any other spreadsheet program.

scenarios. You can manipulate any data in your cycletime estimate ...
like change machines, materials, operations ... and instantly see the

KipwareCYC® was developed in the "real world"
of chipmaking.
- Originally, KipwareCYC® was
developed by an Applications Engineer for Mori Seiki USA to assist
potential customers with machine justifications.
- KipwareCYC® was further enhanced
during years of cycletime estimating by a Manufacturing Engineer in a
high production environment.
- KipwareCYC® comes with a standard
database file into which users can add their own materials ... the
capacity of the database is unlimited. And, because you have that
control and can build the database files, the calculated times are based
on your shops actual cutting parameters and machine specs ... that makes
for accurate estimates and cycletimes that can actually be met on the
shop floor when the time comes.
- NEW FEATURES in the Cutting
Condition or Material Database allows users to specify (5) different
sets of cutting parameters for each main operation. For example, under
ROUGH MILLING, users can specify (5) different cutting parameters ( SFM
/ Feedrate ) giving them the ability to include perhaps FACE MILLING,
CARBIDE END MILLING, HSS END MILLING, etc.. This feature further
enhances flexibility and insures greater accuracy in machining cycletime
estimates.
- KipwareCYC® uses a tool's length
of cut or distance travelled during the cutting operation as one of the
inputs used for calculations. Included with KipwareCYC® is our
conversational CUT LENGTH CALCULATOR. Using fill-in-the-blank
forms, CLC will automatically calculate the length of cuts for a variety
of standard machining operations including rough & finish turning, rough
& finish pocketting and milling, peck drilling, grooving and much, much
more.
